GLOSSARY

SAQ (Self-Assessment Questionnaire)

A Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) is a standardized survey that a purchasing company or rating body sends suppliers to gauge their ESG and sustainability management maturity, with the responses feeding into a rating or risk assessment. It shows up in many forms — EcoVadis's questionnaire, or an OEM's own custom SAQ.

Why it matters for Tier-2/3

Because SAQs tend to recur, answers and evidence organized once can often be reused for the next questionnaire. Understanding that SAQ questions generally follow a policy-implementation-monitoring structure helps a Tier-2/3 supplier answer systematically even the first time one arrives.
